PROSTAGLANDIN AND FEMALE REPRODUCTION

Abstract
Prostaglandin¡¯s are a group of biologically active lipid soluble unsaturated hydroxyl fatty acids. They are present in almost all organs of the reproductive system and their secretions. Therefore, it is not surprising that various physiological roles in male and female reproduction have been ascribed to them. Their physiological role in reproductive processes and -the modification or simulation of these processes by exogenous prostaglandin¡¯s is a major area of research. This is to review the current status of prostaglandin research in female _reproduction as well as the obstetric and gynecological uses of prostaglandin¡¯s.
